Electronic Resources

This page provides updates and news about Boise State Library electronic resources such as planned service interruptions, platform updates, collection news, and more.

What is EzProxy Bookmarklet?

Most licensed electronic resources can be accessed from WorldCat Discovery (library catalog), A-Z Journals list, A-Z Databases list, or subject guides by authenticating through our proxy server with Boise State University credentials. If you are off campus and directly browse a publisher's website, find articles on Google, or a colleague sends you a link to an article, you may not be recognized as a Boise State University authorized user. The EzProxy Bookmarklet works like a browser extension tool to quickly add the library's proxy information to the URL and allow you to authenticate as a BSU student, faculty, or staff member without returning to the Albertsons Library website.

Bookmarklet Errors

Keep in mind that the EzProxy Bookmarklet will attempt to proxy any website. An 'Oops! It looks like you have attempted to view a page that has not been configured for access' message could mean:

  • The library may not license the content
    • Check WorldCat Discovery (library catalog) or the A-Z Journals list to ensure the library has access to the content from that specific publisher. In some cases, we may have access to the article or journal, but our paid content is provided by another vendor (i.e. We subscribe via Taylor & Francis versus Wiley).
  • The article is open access
    • If an article is open access, it does not require authentication and is freely available. Do not run the EzProxy Bookmarklet on open access links.
  • The resource is not configured properly
    • If our library holdings indicate we should have access and you experience an error message when deploying the bookmarklet, please submit the Report a Problem form, and library staff will investigate the issue.
