Albertsons Library strives to purchase, license, and provide access to content that complies with accessibility laws and standards as outlined in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, and Boise State University Policy 8140 Information Technology Accessibility. In cases where technology, resources, or services are not fully accessible, the Library has developed an Equally Effective Alternative Access Plan (EEAAP) to address user accessibility needs while remediation is in progress.
The EEAAP provides a process for access to material that the library licenses, purchases, adopts, or creates when the technology that provides the material is less-than-accessible. Having a process in place to provide alternate access will help ensure users have equal and fair access to information in a timely manner and in a format appropriate for their needs.
The Library’s plan to provide equally effective alternate access to content in all its forms for persons with disabilities is determined by:
Alternatives may not be identical to the original medium but must allow persons with disabilities equal opportunity to obtain the same content in the most appropriate format and setting for the person’s needs. Once a Library representative is alerted to the need to provide alternate access, the process to provide that access will start. A library representative will work with the patron to provide the content as quickly as possible. The Library will report the accessibility issue to the vendor, provider of service, or electronic product, and advocate for appropriate resolution.
