OverDrive, creator of the Libby App, recently published the Libby Privacy Statement. This statement specifically describes data privacy and security practices for Libby users. Libby is the reading app that was launched by Overdrive in 2017 and allows users to easily browse titles, checkout and download books, and enjoy content on the go.
The Libby Privacy Statement supplements the overarching OverDrive Privacy Policy that covers all OverDrive services including Libby, Kanopy, Sora, and TeachingBooks. OverDrive states, "We have also added a new “Diagnostics and Analytics” section to the Libby menu, where users can learn more about our practices and make their own decisions about what to share. OverDrive believes that every user should be able to opt out of non-essential data collection, like app feature-usage analytics. When we begin to collect app analytics data in Libby, in accordance with industry best practices, it will be minimal, anonymous, and optional."
