Welcome to your guide to library resources. The online information world is increasingly complex. This handy handout, Getting Started with Research, will get you off to a good start. And, don't hesitate to contact your librarian when you have questions.

The databases below are great, all-purpose sources for peer-reviewed articles and more. If you need more specialized information, you might check the looong list of all library databases, or a guide that is more specific to a certain area of study like Environmental Studies, Health Sciences, Business and so on.

• Academic Search Premier: Includes magazine, websites, and peer-reviewed articles with some full-text.
• Google Scholar: Large multi-disciplinary index, finds articles and books as well as institutional repository materials from universities. Be sure to adjust the Google Scholar settings to connect it to library subscriptions. See the Getting Started with Research handout for how to do so.
• JSTOR: Archive of full-text scholarly journals. Great for history and social sciences.
• Proquest Central: Large multi-disciplinary database that includes ebooks and many historical newspapers.
• Web of Science: A large full-text scientific database with more than 10 million articles and book chapters. Subjects include science, technology, medicine and much more.
