Databases for Literature

  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index – Humanities Articles in Web of Science
    Arts & Humanities Citation Index contains over 1,800 journals across 28 arts & humanities disciplines. More than 4.9 million records and 33.4 million cited references date back from 1975 to present.
  • Arts & Humanities Database – Arts and Humanities Articles
    This ProQuest full-text journal database has been created to complement the CSA Illumina portfolio of Arts and Humanities databases. The contents reflect the full interdisciplinarity of contemporary study in the arts and humanities, with the inclusion of selected titles from related fields that are also covered by these indexes, such as ethnic and area studies, politics, economics and women's studies.
  • Ethnographic Video Online – Videos Relating to Human Culture and Behavior

FSSW is an anthology of 4 database files providing access to more than 1.3 million records. Coverage spans from 1970 to the present.
  • GreenFILE – Information Covering Human Impact on the Environment
    GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 1,000,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 15,000 records.
  • Project Muse – eBooks and Articles in Humanities
    Currently, Project MUSE has over 800 journals from 125 publishers and offers over 80,000 books from more than 140 presses pn digital humanities and social science.
  • MLA International Bibliography – Articles on Modern Languages, Literatures, Folklore and Linguistics
    Index for the study of language, literature, linguistics, rhetoric and composition, folklore, and film, covering scholarly publications from the early 20th century to the present.
  • Scopus
    An index and abstracting database (similar to Web of Science) that combines a comprehensive, expertly curated abstract and citation database with enriched data and linked scholarly literature across a wide variety of disciplines.

Find Books

Set up Google Scholar to locate articles in our databases

  1. Go to Google Scholar at .
  2. In the upper left, select the menu option (3 bar icon) and then select "Settings":

  3. On the Settings page, select "Library Links" in the left menu:

  4. On the next page, type "Boise State University" in the blank search box, select the blue search button and then select the two check boxes below:
    - Boise State University - Find It at Boise State (will allow you to link to the "Find It" information; and
    - Open WorldCat - Library Search (will allow you to link to the library's catalog to find out if the Library owns the book)

  5. Select the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

  6. Below is an example from the Results page in Google Scholar.  To find out if the full text article is available in a library database, select the "Find It at Boise State" link on the right side. Sometimes the article may also be linked on a website.
    Note:  The "Find It at Boise State" link will not be available for all articles.

  7. For books, you can select the arrows icon below the citation to find out if the book is available in the Albertsons Library:
