Creating a Search for a Library Database

Example searches:

auguste renoir AND painting*
"auguste renoir" AND drawing*

Search Tips:

  • When searching in library databases, separate keywords in your search with an "AND."
  • As asterisk at the end of a word, or the end of the root of a word, will find variant endings. For example, painting* will find painting and paintings.
  • Quotations can be used around phrases such as the name of an artist. For example, "august renoir." It isn't necessary to capitalize words.

Finding a Journal Article If You Have the Citation

Use the Journals search to search by journal title for a known citation. If you do not find the full text, you can do an interlibrary loan request for the journal article and a scanned copy of the article will be sent from another library. See the "Interlibrary Loan" box below for more information.

Finding eBooks at the Albertsons Library

Currently the Albertsons Library is closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so you will be unable to check out print books. However, you can search for ebooks which you can access online.

If the full text article is not available, you will have the option to do an interlibrary loan request for the article.
