Welcome to the MSE 380/381 course guide. This guide covers resources available to you for researching the technical literature.
Periodical Articles and Conference Papers
New developments and current research are often first presented as conference papers and/or periodical articles. You will also find product reviews, descriptions of methodology, or information on innovations in or applications of particular processes, systems and devices. The indexes and abstracts on this page access this literature. Use the sources listed in this box for the Spring 2020 instruction session. Additional indexes are listed in other boxes.
These indexes cover the biological or biomedical literature:
Although not an "article", dissertations usually contain extensive literature reviews which place the topic of the dissertation into a historical context and/or give the state of current research in the area. These literature reviews are a rich source of articles and other published materials relating to the dissertation topic and related areas.
Full-text repositories contain the full-text articles from a defined list of sources, usually journals from a publisher. The contents of the two listed here are also indexed in the major sci-tech indexes.
Handouts used in the March 2, 2020 session are located here.
Here is an example of an EndNote bibliography, with corrections noted.
