Surveys, Tests and Instruments
INTRODUCTION
Testing instruments are surveys, questionnaires, measures, instruments, interviews, and informal observations.
Most of the resources on this research guide will provide citation information to help you locate information about an (1) instrument to measure a variable, e.g. depression, and sometimes (2) the actual instrument.
Please note: Since copyright permission is needed to use any of the instruments found in databases, books or other resources, often access to tests themselves is limited.
Reviews of Published Tests
Published tests are typically available from commercial publishers.
- Buros Center for Testing's website - Top PickTest reviews are available. "For a small fee, users may download information for any of over 2,000 tests that include specifics on test purpose, population, publication date, administration time, and descriptive test critiques."
- Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY)Online - Contains information about, and reviews of, standardized tests covering educational skills, personality, etc.
