Persistent URLs in Databases

Need to know how to locate the persistent URL for an article? Try this guide!

PURL's In Web of Science

Web of Science actually makes it pretty easy to grab a persistent URL to an article record. It does not take you to the full text because there is very little full text in Web of Science, but nonetheless you may want your students to see all the tools that Web of Science offers.

So to grab a PURL in Web of Science just make sure you access the database from the Library and are logged in using your Boise State credentials and then copy the URL at the top of the page. It has the proxy built in and will take folks back to the Web of Science record.

Web of Science Persistent URL and DOI Highlighted

Web of Science also gives you the DOI, so if you want to use it and manually add the proxy, here are the steps.

To convert a DOI to a URL, precede it with the following:

http://dx.doi.org/

For example: 10.1016/j.cplett.2004.10.083

Becomes:  http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/2641151

Now add the proxy URL from Boise State University Albertsons Library:

For example:  http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/2641151

Becomes: https://libproxy.boisestate.edu/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/2641151
