Federal Agencies:

All federal agencies have web pages that may include not only useful reports and statistics, but also downloadable data sets. For example this page from the US Bureau of Labor. To find these pages do a search for the agency name in quotation marks followed by the phrase "data sets" like this: "US Department of Education" "data sets"

US Demographic Data:

• US Census Data: Replaces American FactFinder
• US Census Tools and Apps : Tools for analyzing and presenting data from the Census and other government surveys

US Opinion:

• Pew Research Center : Politics and governance surveys, archived datasets back to 1997
• General Social Survey : Contains a core of basic demographic, attitudinal and behavioral questions. Datasets available from 1972 on.

Domestic and International Election Data:

• American National Election Studies (ANES) : Data from surveys on voting, public opinion, and political participation from 1948-2012. Access also available through ICPSR.
• Comparative Study of Electoral Systems : The CSES is a collaborative program of research among election study teams from around the world. Participating countries and provinces include a common module of survey questions in their post-election studies. The resulting data are deposited along with voting, demographic, district and macro/electoral system variables.
• Constituency-Level Elections Archive : The Constituency-Level Elections Archive (CLEA) is a repository of detailed election results at the constituency level for lower chamber and upper chamber legislative elections from around the world
• Cooperative Congressional Election Survey : Pre- and post-election survey in election years, single survey conducted in non-election years. Data available from 2005-on
• David Leip's Atlas of US Presidential Elections : Election data from 1792-2016 by state and county, primaries from 1992 Democratic

Other Datasets:

• ICPSR : ICPSR (Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research) collects, stores, and provides access to data sets as well as resources for using them. Log in with your Boise State ID and password (upper left of ICPSR home page) to get full access.
