This is here to assist you in adding links to videos using the External Link option in Canvas.

Embedding videos with the External Link in Canvas

Films on Demand and Alexander Street Press may also be added to your Canvas course by using the external tool.  

Here is how to add a video.

  1. Go to the page where you want to add the video, music, or transcripts.

  2. Select "Edit" in the upper right corner.  
  3. Select "Insert" in the toolbar.
  4. This will give you the option to insert a Link, then External Link.

     
  5. A box will appear to input information for your link.
                                  
  6. Now, go to the video that you want to add and click "Share". 
  7. This will open into a window - Share to Email.  
  8. Select the Embed/Link and copy the "Record URL".
  9. NOTICE:  If you use the URL in the address bar, it will not work.  Here is a comparison of the two URLs.  Please use the Record URL not the address bar URL.  
  10. Fill out the pop-up box and select done.
                                  
  11. It will show up on your page as an external link.
