DOI
Direct Object Identifier
Since the internet is prone to breaks in links, the DOI is provided as a way locate a scholarly journal, even if the link has been broken when information gets moved or is changed.

DOI Tools
When using electronic resources, the links that you use to access or retrieve the information can stop working at any time. Websites change addresses, move around into other places, or sometimes disappear altogether.
The Direct Object Identifier provides a link that can access and locate the whereabouts of any scholarly article on the web.You can find these in many databases. In the image below you can see the DOI at the bottom of the screenshot.
